Four varieties of canola were grown as fertilized monocrops and unfertilized intercrops with pea in each of 2017 and 2018. A monocrop pea treatment was also included for comparison. Pea yield in the monocrop and intercrop were similar, with minimal canola contribution to yield in the intercrops in 2017. Canola was not competitive with pea in this situation. In 2018 with an Aphanomyces root rot outbreak, the gross value of the intercrop was much higher than the pea monocrop but less than the monocrop canola.
